Data Scientist – Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Your Key Responsibilities:
- design and development of innovative advanced analytics solutions (tools, models, algorithms) using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and operations research techniques for our use cases and business problems
- model and process complex, heterogeneous and big data sets using appropriate tools
- create prototypes to validate ideas and transfer them to productive successful systems
- continuous optimization, validation and maintenance of models, software and use cases
- collaboration and scientific work in cooperation with our research partners
- presentation of technologies and solutions to clients and public audiences
Your Qualifications:

- have a background in IT, mathematics or statistics (university degree, vocational training or comparable practical experience)
- have practical experience in Python and/or Java
- confidence with at least one machine learning toolkit, such as scikit-learn or Tensorflow
- have an analytical mind and solid knowledge of statistics
- connect data from different data sources with ease (e.g. relational SQL databases, unstructured data, RDF, XML, JSON)
- are proficient in deploying machine learning models (e.g. as a web service using Docker)
- have knowledge of NLP and basic image processing methods
- communicate well in English and German
The position will be mostly remote, so you can work from any location you prefer. Also a part time employment is possible (e.g. 50%). You should expect some travel activity to meet clients or attend conferences and conventions.

Data Scientist – Knowledge Graphs and Ontologies
Your Key Responsibilities:
- build and evolve ontologies and knowledge graphs in close collaboration with our clients
- develop data harmonization strategies and tools
- help to build ontology communities in specific domains
- continuous optimization, validation and maintenance of our software and use cases
- collaboration and scientific work in cooperation with our research partners
- presentation of technologies and solutions to clients and public audiences
Your Qualifications:
- successfully completed studies in information systems, computer science, linguistics, library science or a related field
- experience in ontology or knowledge engineering roles
- experience in developing knowledge graphs or ontologies from scratch,
- good knowledge of Semantic Web technologies (RDF, OWL), query languages (SPARQL) and validation/ reasoning standards (SHACL, SPIN)
- experience with open source ontology editors (e.g. Protege)
- have practical experience in Python and/or Java
- communicate well in English and German
